Tripeur is an end-to-end corporate travel management platform that uses advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms to drive efficiency, ease of use, personalization and transparency for business travel by employees and executives alike. Over six years Tripeur had become a trusted provider of travel services, and clients had begun asking for something adjacent but distinct: an in-house expense system to streamline the management of travel-related costs alongside the bookings themselves.
Expense management plays a crucial role in corporate travel, and every organization handles travel spend differently. Some issue corporate credit cards, some provide cash, and others require employees to front expenses and claim later. Supporting one model well is straightforward. Supporting all of them in a single product, integrated into an existing travel platform, is where the difficulty sits.
Some organizations issue corporate credit cards, some provide cash, and others require employees to front expenses and seek reimbursement afterwards. That variation is why expense management is harder than it looks. A system built only for reimbursement fails at companies using corporate cards, and one built around cards fails at companies issuing cash advances.
The work spanned diverse invoice types, multiple currencies, expense limits, credit card spending, and advance cash disbursements. Each is a separate problem. Invoices arrive as printed receipts, emailed PDFs, and phone photographs taken in poor light, and currencies need conversion at a defensible rate on a defensible date.
Tripeur evaluated buy versus build thoroughly and found no existing system offering comprehensive functionality under one roof, so it decided to build in-house. The conclusion is not the obvious one, since expense management is a mature category. What no product delivered was the combination, and buying would still have left clients with two systems and a gap between them, which is the problem they asked Tripeur to solve.
An invoice parser service was created to identify invoice type, currency, expense items, and fraudulent or duplicate invoices. Parsing is what makes one-click real, since every field identified is a field the user does not type. Duplicate submission is usually accidental, and catching it automatically removes a whole category of human review.
A mobile app let users capture invoice images and queue them for parsing, with an image optimization algorithm improving clarity on unclear invoices. Queuing means a receipt can be photographed on poor signal and forgotten about, and optimizing the image first matters because a parser fed bad input performs badly however good the model is.
A 40 percent increase in adoption was achieved among existing customers within the first three months, the sharpest available signal since those users took up something new rather than being sold it.
Invoice parsing accuracy rose from 65 percent to 89 percent, significantly reducing the need for manual intervention in expense creation and in the finance team's routine verification work.
Users consistently submitted expense reports in an average of approximately six minutes. For a task that traditionally consumed an evening of receipt sorting, that turns postponement into completion.
Eternalight built Tripeur's expense system on Node.js microservices with a React.js web interface and a React Native mobile app for invoice capture. OpenAI powers the parser service identifying invoice type, currency, and line items alongside fraud and duplicate detection, with an image optimization step ahead of it. Zoho APIs and the existing Tripeur travel platform are integrated directly.

All these components needed to integrate seamlessly with the existing Tripeur travel system, which eliminates most shortcuts. A standalone expense product would have been far easier to build and would have recreated exactly the gap clients asked Tripeur to close, since the value comes from trip context the platform already holds.
Tripeur's objective was a one-click solution for uploading expense invoices, sparing users from lengthy procedures. Expense reporting is a chore done by people not paid to do it, who postpone it accordingly. Receipts accumulate for weeks, so any friction compounds against a task nobody wants, which is why the target was one click.
Automation ensured that once invoices were uploaded they were aggregated into a single location, letting users generate expense reports effortlessly. Capturing a receipt easily still leaves a report to assemble later, which is the part people postpone, so aggregating on arrival turns submission from compiling into simply reviewing.
The system added approvals, reporting capabilities, and notifications to improve the experience and streamline the journey. An expense system has two users and the traveller is only one, since manager and finance adoption decides whether it is rolled out. Notifications answer the real complaint, which is silence after submitting a claim.
